David Forgione’s lifelong interest in helping people achieve their most important needs is what drives his approach to residential real estate. During his many years as an industry leader in the publishing and advertising fields, David was known for his ability to hear, understand, imagine and execute solutions above and beyond the expectations of his clients, a perspective he brings to his career at Turpin.
David’s extensive experience and knowledge in finance, automotive and luxury marketing was honed as a vice president of The Wall Street Journal, group publisher of Motor Trend and Automobile Magazine, and head of sales at Forbes, among others. Clients and co-workers alike appreciate his exceptional business acumen, collaborative work style and hands-on leadership capabilities acquired through his years in advertising.
One of David’s favorite recent experiences was brokering a sale between leaders from Toyota Motor Corporation and the real estate firm that owns the giant digital billboards at One Times Square. “I like putting ambitious people together to do something memorable,” he said. “It was fun to see that huge Camry up there when the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve.”
David is a New Jersey native who was born in Summit and grew up in Bernardsville. He has also lived in Mendham, Madison, and Westfield. His first newspaper job was with the local Recorder Newspapers. Deciding to join the Chatham Office was both a personal and professional decision, according to David. “When it came time to sell my own mother’s house in 1993, I turned to the Turpin family,” he said. “They did a great job taking care of people then as they do now. That’s what attracted me. It’s a great fit and a real opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives right here at home.”
David and his wife, Anne, have three grown children and two grandchildren, not to mention George, their Golden Retriever. David is an avid golfer and an active member of the Morris County Golf Club in Morristown, serving as Golf Chairman and on the Board of Governors. His hobbies include sports of all types, yoga, films, and music. He is a graduate of Lycoming College with executive management training at Villanova University.
One thing David will never escape is his love for and expertise in everything automotive. Hardly a week goes by that one of David’s many friends or business colleagues doesn’t call to ask his advice about their next car. “I know it’s just machinery,” he says. “But people really do care about cars… just not as much as the place they call home.”
